About the Trainer: Gloria Juliao

Gloria Juliao Ed. S, LPC, NCC, RPT-S™, CPCS, ACS, BC-TMH is the Director for Play Therapy for View Point Health and has in-depth professional experience working with children, adolescents and families in English and Spanish ranging from 2- to 18-years-old. Gloria’s theoretical approach is a combination of Adlerian conceptualization and Child-Centered skills. Gloria served in the role of Vice President for the Georgia Association of Play Therapy since May of 2022 and as of July 2024 she serves as the President.

Art Techniques in Play Therapy

Art has always been an outlet for expression and change, making it  natural for integration into play therapy. Art techniques in play therapy is  an interactive training providing 6 core and play CEs exploring the use of art in play through a CCPT lens as well as using interventions for the  therapeutic process including exploring emotions, learning coping skills, and building family and group bonding.

Unpacking Core Skills and Themes of Child-Centered Play Therapy

This intermediate level training will focus on child-centered play therapy  skills to promote expression, autonomy, self-regulation, and resiliency.  Participants will gain an understanding of the theory behind CCPT as well  as specific clinical skills and themes espoused by the approach.

Inclusive Play Therapy for LGBTQIA+ People and Their Families

This 6 CEs training will focus on equipping participants with knowledge and specific creative interventions applicable to clinical work with the LGTBQIA+ population from a play therapy lens. We will explore what competent clinical care and advocacy looks like for children,  adolescents, and families with diverse gender identity, expression, and/or  sexual orientation.

When Words Aren’t Enough

Play is the language of children and through this beginning play therapy training we introduce people to the importance of play for children, helping them gain the perspective of play therapists. We explore the basics of play therapy, creating a space for playroom or office space, and providing a framework for further learning.

The World of Sandtray

Sandtray is an expressive intervention used in play therapy to help individuals explore their unconscious thoughts and feelings and helps kinesthetically ground them through the experience of the sand. The World of Sandtray is a two-day training day focusing on the theoretical applications of sandtray therapy through different theoretical lens including psychoanalytic, humanistic, and directive approaches and on practical applications with material reinforced through experiential learning. The 12 CE training provides 3 CEs in theory and 9 CEs in skills and methods.

Applying Adlerian Play Therapy with Caregivers

This 6 CE training will provide theory and applicable interventions to promote confidence while working with caregivers of play therapy clients while utilizing an Adlerian framework. Participants will gain an overview of Adlerian play therapy concepts and will be able to help caregivers identify factors that affect the client’s functioning, sense of self, others, and the world.

Empowering Caregivers with Filial Therapy through a Culturally Sensitive Lens

The caregiver-child relationship is fundamental for healthy attachment as it establishes the foundation for the child to trust, take risks, learn, socialize, and empathize with others. This 6 CE training provides clinicians with the play therapy skills for guiding caregivers to use the therapeutic powers of play while acknowledging distinct family culture.
